Description

Fantastic recreation in resin by the English firm of Oliver Tupton. Depicts a c.1910 chain-driven Mercedes Benz racing car, with driver an mechanic handling it at speed. Has a #7 on grill. The tires on back have a hollow space to place pencils and similar items. An there is a pen stand on one side with flower motifs on both borders.

Measures 24,5cm x 13,5cm x 13,0cm aprox. Resin sculpture with minor use or discoloration. Marked O.Tupton.

This piece was based on one of the William Furick’s desk pieces (c.1910) that was described and photographed in Zolomij’s book “The Motor Car In Art – Selection from the Raymond E. Holland Automotive Art Collection” on page 288.
