Description
Very rare and wonderful ca.1915 pocket watch retailed by F. Bachschmid. White dial with with painted black Roman numerals; subsidiary dial at 6 for constant seconds; round hinged case with fine Niello and rose gold motoring motif decoration to front, and on back featuring a race car crossing a period carriage. Dial signed F. Bachschmid and Orion. Numbered and with silver hallmarks inside case, with an inner silver case marked Grand Prix Berne 1914 – Orion – Montre Ancre de Precision. Mechanism also numbered and marked Orion.
Diameter 45mm aprox. Condition: Good+. Working mechanism. Case with the rose gold car scene showing minor Niello lost and discoloration. The other side with almost no Niello finish but great engraving on silver. Dial with some dust and a hardly visible hairline fissure.
